Guests that choose to stay here are looking for a different experience than staying in a hotel.  We are off a dirt road and most of our neighbors are cows and horses!  Much of Costa Rica life is done in an outdoor setting because the weather is nice all  year long. Many Costa Ricans have open kitchens & dine outdoors.  The Villa Hermosa has a completely screened in bedroom & bathroom but the rest of the living areas are outdoors.  It's hard to read a book while stretched out on the sofa because of the hummingbirds buzzing by.  Enjoy your one acre of exotic flowers, fruit trees & gardens, pool, frog pond, game room (pool table, bar, darts, bar fridge, bathroom, sink), horseshoes & other games. Make sure you are planning on spending enough time here to just listen to the birds during the day or the frogs during the night.
Just 2.5km from the Villa Hermosa is a great little town Monterrey. Monterrey (still known as Santo Domingo on some maps) is what we imagine that La Fortuna looked like 20 years ago.  We get people riding their horses down the road, toucans stopping by and even the occasional sloth crossing the road. ATVs and Motorcylces tend to be the preferred mode of transportation & a 4WD car is suggested for the clearance it provides on these bumpy dirt roads.  English is NOT spoken in this town so it will challenge your Spanish skills!  That said, you'll be amazed at how friendly the Ticos (Costa Ricans) are and how you can communicate quite well either way.
We are here to help you every step of the way!  From the moment you decide to come to Costa Rica to the time you arrive we will be here if you need us. We've found that many people coming to Costa Rica it is their first international trip and we know it can be scary.  We are happy to help!  If you're an "old pro" then we'll just make sure you have everything you need. Either way, we are here to answer all of your questions and if you'd like, give you recommendations or advice on your trip.
We understand the need and desire for privacy and we are happy to give it to you!  We always tell our guests that we will come over daily to check-in (normally over coffee) or "get lost" and you won't see us during your stay. :-)  Tell us what you want and we'll be happy to make it happen to the best of our abilities!  There are curtains around the outdoor living room and the pool and property are surrounded by foliage for maximum privacy.  This is YOUR vacation so we want you to have the best time possible!
